Luxury Multifamily Condo Project Breaks Ground in Mexico

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico—Grupo Chartwell, a Mexico-based real estate development company, and Related International, a division of The Related Group, have announced that ICON Vallarta, a $200-million luxury condo development in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, has broken ground.
Jorge Perez, CEO of Related International, tells MHN that the project is slated for completion in spring 2009. Maquinaria, Obra y Desarrollo, headquartered in Guadalajara, Mexico, has started the excavation, ground leveling and platform construction for the oceanfront development.
Designed by national design firm Arquitectonica, the project will feature 343 full-ownership units, situated on five acres. The community will be located just minutes away from downtown Vallarta’s restaurants and galleries.
Interiors are being designed by Yoo by Philippe Starck. One-, two- and three-bedroom units, many with private elevators, will include floor-to-ceiling windows; nine-ft. ceilings; stainless steel appliances; stone countertops; Italian cabinetry; designer fixtures; stone tile bathroom flooring; marble showers; Air Bubble spa-jet systems; outdoor terraces with undulating glass railings and lounging areas; and high-tech telecommunications equipment, including high-speed cabling to all television outlets.
Community amenities include a pool; poolside cabanas; gourmet on-site restaurant; a 20-seat, state-of-the-art movie theater; private golf course privileges; sauna; and steam rooms. Residents will also have access to 24-hour valet parking, 24-hour security service, in-room dining, world-class concierge services, a full-service business center, shipping and packing services, full-time maintenance staff, housekeeping, grocery shopping and delivery services and dry-cleaning services.
