Japan-based Honey Bee USA Inc. is preparing to start construction next month on Waikiki Landing, a $20 million mixed-use project in Ala Wai Small Boat Harbor.

According to Pacific Business News, Honey Bee USA plans to build two wedding chapels, restaurants, retail and office space, along with a boat repair facility and fuel dock.

Sacramento-based entrepreneur Briant Benson plans to open a 5,200-square-foot  steakhouse with a retractable roof  in a four-story boatyard building along Ala Moana Boulevard. Other tenants in that building will include a 5,200-square-foot Japanese restaurant and Serino’s Pizza.

Fast-food restaurants and a beer house will be among the tenants of a two-story wharf building, Pacific Business News reports. The wedding chapels will be operated by Tutu USA of Japan and Gloria Bridal Services.

Keith Kiuchi, an attorney for Honey Bee USA, told Pacific Business News that the project’s general contractor, Hawaiian Dredging Construction Co. Inc., is expected to start work next month and complete construction by April 2014.
